PNG vs JPG: keep transparency or choose compatibility
Avoid the white-background surprise when converting logos and graphics.
When PNG makes sense
PNG preserves existing transparent pixels and is a useful choice for logos, interface graphics and screenshots. It will not make an opaque background transparent.
When JPG makes sense
JPG is broadly supported and useful for photos. It has no transparency channel. PixelPort fills transparent areas with white when you choose JPG.
What conversion cannot do
Converting a compressed image to PNG does not bring back lost detail. Converting an animated image in PixelPort produces a single still frame, not a new animation.
